Hello
My name is Diana Akatwijuka, and I am the CEO and founder of Tokyo Lingo. I am a mother to two lovely kids. I love cooking and doing mini DIY crafts, and I also enjoy programming. Teaching English to young children brings me great joy, but most of all, I find satisfaction in seeing my students improve and develop a love for learning that lasts a lifetime.
My Story
I am a Kenyan by birth and Japanese by naturalization. Having been brought up in a very humble background, I knew that education was the only way out.
I studied Japanese language at Kenyatta University alongside my degree in Analytical Chemistry. I was fortunate to pass the JLPT N5 exam, which led to me being awarded the JASSO scholarship for an exchange program at Akita University in Japan. During my time in Akita, I deepened my understanding of the Japanese language and culture.
In 2013, I began another chapter at Hiroshima Jogakuin University, where I studied Global Studies in English and also took Japanese culture classes.
After many years in Japan, the foundation I gained from learning the Japanese language and culture has played a significant role in shaping who I am today and in what I aspire to give back to society.
Through my experiences, Tokyo Lingo was born in 2020. Tokyo Lingo is a HUB where we teach English to Japanese students and offer opportunities for foreigners outside Japan to study Japanese language in language schools in Japan. Creating opportunities and changing lives is my passion.
At Tokyo Lingo, we understand that it is never too late to start a new path, and we are here to guide and support you.
